Kyle Gunnels will co-lead and present during the April 16 spotlight session at the PRSA Counselors to Higher Education Senior Summit in Washington, DC. The session will feature 13 higher education communicators sharing five-minute case studies and detailing a unique communications strategy on topics like crisis communications, curating crowd-sourced content, social media strategies, event planning and effective audience engagement strategies.
Teresa Valerio Parrot will participate in an April 19 Presidents Working Group panel, “Managing External Relations and Media Influence on Your Institutional Governance,” at the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges’ 2015 National Conference on Trusteeship. The panel, which includes Drake University President David Maxwell and Hechinger Report Editor-in-chief Liz Willen, will focus on managing and responding effectively to emerging issues within the evolving world of communications and higher education.

Teresa Valerio Parrot moderated a March 24 panel on “Katrina 10 Years Later: Institutional Resilience, Managing Disasters, and Lessons Learned in Student Affairs” during the 2015 Annual Meeting of NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education in New Orleans, LA. Teresa Valerio Parrot participated in a panel on “The Campus as a Safe Learning Commons” as part of presidents- and chancellors-only programming at the American Council on Education’s 97th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC on March 15.
Erin Hennessy served as a panelist for a March 5 panel discussion on brands in crisis as part of Georgetown University’s graduate program in public relations and corporate communications.
Erin Hennessy presented at and served on the faculty of CASE’s Annual Conference for Media Relations Professionals on January 14-16.
Kyle Gunnels presented at AMA’s Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education in Austin, Texas November 10-13, with Drake University’s Aaron Jaco. Their session focused on the difference between being savvy and being strategic when it comes to determining your institution’s social media presence. Their full presentation is available here.
